Accelerated Welding Academy Class-Winona

Monday: 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

This class will be held at Minnesota State College Southeast Winona from Sept 30 to November 18, 2023. See schedule below for more details.

*NorthStar Digital Literacy Computer Training Modules/Testing/Registration (The testing is on Monday September 30 and Wednesday October 2 from 4-8PM) or by appointment

*16 hours of classroom instruction in OSHA 10 for General Industry and Essential Soft Skills for Employment. The classroom instruction is Monday-Thursday, October 7-10, 2024 from 4-8PM.  16 hours of safety training

 

40 hours of Accelerated Welding.

10 hours of classroom instruction, including Math for Welders, Weld Symbols, and safety.

30 hours of hands-on welding instruction, including:

 GMAW MIG welding

 Intro to Oxyfuel

 Intro SMAW (Stick)

 Intro to Plasma Cutting

Monday and Wednesdays October 14th - November 18th, 2024 from 4-8PM.

 

 

 

 

 

Northstar Digital Literacy Computer Training, OSHA 10, and Essential Soft Skills for Employment!

 

How to Participate

 

Must live in the 10 county Southeast Area (Wabasha, Goodhue, Winona, Steele, Olmsted, Rice, Mower, Dodge, Filmore, and Houston)

Cannot be enrolled in High School

Must be 18 years of age

Should meet one of the following qualifier's:

Individual of color/Hispanic

Individual with a criminal record

Individual without a high school diploma or equivalent

Individual with disabilities

Individual who has been unemployed for 26 weeks or more out of the past 52 weeks or

Individual at or below the 200 Percent of Federal Poverty Guidelines

***The prerequisite is to complete the NorthStar Digital and CASAS testing for a basic skills level in Reading and Math.

Outcomes

A certificate of completion for NorthStar Digital Learning Modules.

A certificate of completion for 40 hours Accelerated Welding.

One college credit and a certificate of completion for OSHA 10 for General Industry and Essential Soft Skills. 

Program Costs

This program is free if you meet the eligibility requirements. Please call to see if you are eligible for grant funding that would cover the whole cost.
