Rolling admission, with new test prep students starting monthly. New student onboarding will be held on Zoom, 9-11 am on the first Monday of every month. Spring job training class February 3-June 5.

A Paraprofessional, or Teaching Assistant, is responsible for providing hands-on support to a teacher when preparing lessons or teaching students in the classroom.
Their duties include:
- Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behavior
- Help teachers keep records for grading and attendance
- Get materials and equipment ready to help teachers prepare for class
- Reinforce lessons by reviewing materials one-on-one and in small groups with students
- Supervise students during lunch or recess, as well as in between classes or on field trips
- Assist students who need additional help learning a specific concept
Online or Virtual Information
Students will receive support in learning how to use these online tools. ABE programs may be able to assist learners with accessing
a tablet or laptop and connecting to the internet. Zoom platform and Paraeducator Online will be used in class and for homework.

How to Participate
Student eligibility includes:
- At least 17 years of age; and
- Not enrolled in Kindergarten -12th grade (K-12) instruction; and
- Not required to be enrolled in K-12 instruction under state statute; and
- Who qualify under one or more of the following conditions:
- Are unable to speak, read or write the English language;
- Do not have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent, and have not achieved an equivalent level of education;
- Lack sufficient mastery of basic educational skills to enable the individual to function effectively in society
Student expectations include:
Take one or more assessments to determine if academic level is appropriate for the course.
Attend four hours of live zoom class per week.
Complete thirteen lesson modules and two practice tests before becoming eligible to test.
Complete two reading assignments per month,
Engage with the Career Lab monthly (minimum of one time per month)
Student supports:
Teacher support is available for students on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 -11:00am.
Individual teacher support one-to-one is available.
Outcomes
Students will prepare for and take the Paraeducator Online exam. The day they pass the exam they will have an official copy.
The certificate makes a student eligible for employment as a classroom paraprofessional.
