Laura, a U.S. military veteran, contacted CareerForce in St. Paul for assistance when she unexpectedly was forced to resign from a position she had only been at for 2 ½ months. There, Laura met with Andrea Dunn, a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative, who helped Laura in identifying promising job leads, refreshing her resume and leveraging other job search resources.

Among those resources was a free trial upgrade on LinkedIn, where Laura connected with a recruiter. The recruiter urged her to apply for a position, Laura landed an interview, and a few days later she was offered a great job within her career field. Now, Laura is making $5 hour more than her previous job.

Veterans receive priority service at all CareerForce locations. Career planning and job search workshops, like classes on using LinkedIn in a successful job search, are available to anyone at CareerForce locations around Minnesota. You can find out more about classes at a CareerForce location near you at CareerForceMN.com/events.
