This six-week hybrid (online and in-person) training will prepare you for testing for a Class B Commercial Driver's permit and license.

How to Participate

You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Minnesota driver’s license in order to obtain a Minnesota Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). The CLP will allow you to practice driving a commercial vehicle with another driver with the same class license or higher.

Other licensing eligibility includes passing a background check, with no felonies within three years, and passing a Department of Transportation physical and drug screening.

To learn more, visit our website: www.takoda.org. You also can call José (612) 341-3358, ext. 119, for more information.

Once you complete an interest form (online or by phone), you will be invited to an enrollment session.

Outcomes

Once you successfully complete the program, you will have your Class B Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). Fourteen days after earning your permit, you will be eligible to take CDL road tests.

Program Costs

There is no financial cost for individuals eligible for our various programs. These eligibility factors typically include military service, race, gender, disabilities, long-term unemployment, recent incarceration, public assistance, age of 55 or older and income below 200% of Federal Poverty Guideline.

Our Takoda Institute team members will work with participants to determine eligibility.
