Medical Office Support Specialist Training Program

Avivo’s Healthcare Technician Training course gives instruction in human anatomy and medical terminology, as well as healthcare culture and concepts, HIPAA, insurance models and the Medisoft practice management program: insurance claims, revenue cycle management, patient scheduling and coordination, and patient data entry. Students will learn and have the opportunity to earn a certification in eClinicalWorks EHR software.

This program can vary in length from 8 weeks to 20 weeks depending on enrollment assessment scores. The 20-week program includes two pre-requisite courses designed to better prepare for the final course.

How to Participate

In order to participate in this course, potential students must meet eligibility requirements:

  • Have a valid government-issued photo ID and social security card (without restrictions)
  • Income must be at 200% of the federal poverty level or lower (we can help determine this)
  • Math and reading assessment scores of 7th grade or above
  • Committed to finding full-time employment, with the help of a career counselor, following training completion
  • For the 20-week program, two pre-requisite courses are required and all three courses are in-person learning
    • The first two courses run 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM
    • The third course runs 9:00 AM - 12:15 PM

Outcomes

Participants who successfully complete the Medical Office Specialist Support Program will receive a Certificate of Completion for each separate course, as well as for the Medical Office Specialist Support Program. Participants will also have the opportunity to receive the Benchmark Portal Certification in Customer Service with the 20-week program and eClinicalWorks certification for both program lengths. Previous graduates have explored and landed employment in the medical office and similar industries (i.e., private or public clinic reception desks, data entry, plasma bank, medical administrative assistant, human services roles, intake coordinator, etc.).

Program Costs

Provided the participant meets the income eligibility requirements and is able to provide acceptable ID documentation, there will be no cost to the participant for training or career counseling.
