Human Services Assistant Training

Monday: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Thursday: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Training open to those that may have experienced a Digital Literacy barrier to employment, participants lacking a computer at home are provided a laptop to complete 30 hours of instruction utilizing Northstar Adult Basic Education Digital Literacy’s curriculum. 
  • 12 College Credits in Anoka Technical College’s Behavioral & Human Services Program earned are transferable to an AAS Degree or to a 4-year institution through online, asynchronous training giving our participants a well-rounded understanding of the Social & Human Service field and setting them up for success in internships and careers. 
  • Additionally, program coursework also helps define the roles of the behavioral health worker, direct service provider, social worker as advocates and resource providers. 
  • A paid 6-8 week Work Based Learning experience is coordinated following the successful completion of classroom training and education to prepare participants to directly enter the workforce. 
  • Human Services Assistant position median wage $22.54/hr

Outcomes

Participants will receive targeted Industry Sector Training credentials through Anoka Technical College Social and Human Service Assistant programs leading to jobs that pay $25.00/hour or more. We designed this innovative training with the intention of empowering target populations to become successful college students and begin a fulfilling Caring Professions Career with a clear career path to jobs with even higher wages.

Program Costs

Training is at no cost with the following qualifications:

Must have ALL of the following:

  • 18 years or older
  • Not in High School
  • MN Resident
  • Right to work in the U.S.

Must have ONE of the following:

  • At or Below 200% FPG
  • Experiencing Homelessness
  • Unemployed for 26 weeks out of the last 52
  • Person of Color
  • Lacks a HS Diploma but is over the age 18
  • Has a Disability
  • Limited English
  • Criminal Record
