Neighbors, Inc.’s Banking Career Pathway prepares participants for entry-level employment and career growth in banking and financial services.
The program uses a blended format, with core training content delivered virtually through NRF Foundation Customer Service & Sales training and the American Bankers Association Bank Teller Certificate through the Center for Financial Training & Education Alliance (CFTEA).
Participants also build work-readiness and professional communication skills while receiving individualized career coaching and employer preparation. Training and support may include career-readiness activities, cash-handling experience, resume and interview preparation, and connections to financial-services employers.
Online or Virtual Information
Portions of the training, including NRF and CFTEA coursework, are delivered virtually. The overall pathway is blended and is not 100% virtual. The executed work plan also identifies the overall training format as blended/hybrid.
How to Participate
Interested participants begin by connecting with the Neighbors, Inc. Financial Empowerment Center to complete an intake, eligibility screening, and career assessment. Eligible participants work with a Career and Financial Coach to develop an Individualized Employment Plan and determine readiness for the banking pathway.
Participants then complete applicable training and receive individualized career coaching, training navigation, job-search and interview preparation, employer connections, and placement support. Assessments and additional educational support may be provided through program partners as appropriate.
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Banking Career Pathway, participants will have developed banking-specific, customer service, work-readiness, and professional communication skills.
Participants may earn the American Bankers Association Bank Teller Certificate and NRF Foundation Customer Service & Sales certification. Participants also receive individualized career coaching, job-search and interview preparation, and connections to financial-services employers to support entry into and advancement within the banking industry.
Program Costs
No cost to eligible participants. Basic eligibility requirements include being a Minnesota resident, age 18 or older, eligible to work in the United States, not enrolled in high school and eligible for Adult Basic Education services, and either being an individual of color or having income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guideline. Additional eligibility requirements are reviewed during the enrollment process.
