PROGRAM: 

Hired is  partnering with Normandale Community College and manufacturing employer partners to hold round two of a successful Advanced Manufacturing Pre-apprenticeship training program targeting a career as a technician!  This is a great fit for participants interested in the growing, in-demand area of medical and microelectronics manufacturing.  

Location : Bloomington MN

This program includes multiple stages over the course of Early 2026 – Summer 2027.

Stage 1: Advanced Manufacturing Discovery Early 2026 (hybrid - in person and virtual) Jump into career exploration and job readiness training with Hired. Learn about advanced manufacturing, see a clean room, take tours and meet employers, build job readiness, customer service, and digital skills.

Stage 2: Earn & Learn Pre-Apprenticeship Spring 2026 - Spring 2027 (In Person) You will get paid as you work, learn, and train at an advanced manufacturing company. Employee benefits include health insurance, regular breaks and paid time off. Earn 14-credits with Normandale Community College and a credential.

Stage 3: Advanced Manufacturing Credentials Spring 2027 (in person) Opportunity to move into a paid Technician Apprenticeship Program with an advanced manufacturing company.

REQUIREMENTS 

Work Requirements: High School Diploma/GED, subject to criminal background check, available for earn and learn employment with an employer partner, able to walk/stand for prolonged periods, work in a cleanroom wearing cleanroom gown, reliable transportation to the Bloomington area, solid math, reading, computer and communication skills.  

Grant Program Eligibility: Individual from underrepresented communities and/or experiencing long term unemployment.

Outcomes
  • This program offers a true earn-and-learn experience, combining a paid, full-time 12-month internship with virtual coursework through Normandale Community College. Participants can earn 14 college credits and a Certified Production Technician credential while gaining hands-on industry experience.
  • Employment opportunities with employer partners including Seagate Technology, Polar Semiconductor, SkyWater Technology, and more.
  • MSP metro entry level pay range: $22.80/hour

 

 

Program Costs

Advanced Manufacturing training is free for eligible participants and supported by a DEED Drive for Five grant.
