Starting today, Minnesota Unemployment Insurance applicants are required to create an account on CareerForce.MN.gov as part of their work search plan. Also starting today, people receiving Unemployment Insurance benefits are no longer required to create an account on MinnesotaWorks.net.

On June 10, we will bid a fond farewell to MinnesotaWorks.net. Considered state of the art when it first launched in 2007, the site is now ready for retirement, to be replaced by a site that is mobile-friendly, has more job search resources and is easier to access.
Minnesota employers have been making the switch from MinnesotaWorks.net to the CareerForce Post-a-Job platform since last year. Employers use the Post-a-Job platform to have their open positions show up on CareerForce.MN.gov, a site that regularly gets roughly a half million pageviews by more than 50,000 job seekers each month.
Ahead of the much-anticipated retirement of MinnesotaWorks.net, here are a few highlights of the site’s history:
- Hundreds of thousands of Minnesota job seekers have turned to MinnesotaWorks.net for help finding employment since the site went online 19 years ago.
- The site was here to help job seekers during the Great Recession and long, slow jobs recovery that followed.
- MinnesotaWorks.net has also been a mainstay for Minnesota employers, who have posted hundreds of thousands of job openings on the site since 2007.
- MinnesotaWorks.net was preceded by the Minnesota Job Bank website – which launched in the mid 1990s during the dawn of the internet!
