Paraeducator Career Pathway

Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Thursday: 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

 This online teacher led class will prepare you to pass the Paraeducator exam for Educational Assistant/Teacher Assistant positions. This certificate is only needed if you do not have a two- or four-year college degree. The class meets four days a week through Google Meet. The instructor will cover topics on child development, educational law and ethics, positive behavior intervention and preparation for the paraeducator exam. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to job shadow a current Educational Assistant in a school to better understand the work.

Online or Virtual Information
This class in online through Google Meet with a licensed instructor. The job shadow activity will be in-person for up to four hours on one day.
How to Participate

To register please follow the link to the Hubbs Center website, https://hubbs.spps.org/register  Please indicate that you are interested in the Paraeducator class on the registration form.

Once you register an intake staff will reach out with more information and to schedule a Reading and Math assessment. These assessments must be completed before starting the class. 

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this class you will have a Paraeducator Certificate through Master Teacher. Additionally, you could also obtain a CPR and Personal Care Attendant Certificate. A Navigator will assist you with job readiness and job search with local school districts toward the end of the session.

Free for Eligible participates. Eligibility may include:

  • Eligibility Criteria: Completion of Reading and Math assessment
  • Eligibility Criteria: Authorized to work in the United States
  • Eligibility Criteria : Have Identification card and Social Security card
