Free Retail Customer Service Training for New Americans

Monday: 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in person
Tuesday: 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in person
Wednesday: 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in person
Thursday: 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in person
Friday: 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in person

Eligibility:

  • Be born Outside the US
  • Be able to attend all sessions in person
  • Have Conversational English skills

In this class you will learn:

  • English skills for cashier jobs
  • American customer service skills
  • Cash handling
  • Computer skills

Students practice their customer service skills at the International Institute's student store.

Requirements:

  • be born outside the US
  • Pass an English assessment
  • Have permission to work in the US

To register for class, you must come to an in-person intake session. 

When:

  • Every Friday

Arrive between 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Getdirections.)

No appointment is needed. Please plan to be here for at least two hours, depending on how many students are waiting. During your visit, you will take an English test and talk about your goals. Our teachers will help you start the best class for your learning level.

Outcomes

Students who complete this class will:

  • Gain practical skills in retail customer service
  • Receive support from an employment navigator to find a job
