Eligibility:

  • Be born outside the US
  • Be able to attend all sessions
  • Be able to pass an English assessment

Expand your career potential by strengthening your leadership and management skills during our 12-week Professional Leadership Training. This class is designed for New Americans with U.S. work experience across industries.

Alongside a community of supportive peers from around the world, you will increase your confidence and abilities in presentation skills, employee management, networking and digital literacy. Throughout this experiential class and after graduation, we provide employment guidance to find a job, get a promotion, or identify additional training as needed.

How to Participate

Attending an orientation is a required step before the start of Professional Leadership Training. To get a sign up link for orientation click the link to fill out a form.

The next Online Orientation (You still need to come to an in-person English assessment at the Institute if you attend an online orientation.):

  • Monday, August 25
    • 6 – 7:30 p.m.
       
  • Wednesday, August 27
    • 1 – 2:30 p.m.

The next In-person Orientation:

  • Friday, September 5
    • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
       
  • Tuesday, September 9
    • 3 – 6 p.m.
  • Friday, September 12
    • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

At the orientation you will:

  • Take an English Assessment
  • Be introduced to Google classroom
  • Learn how to access NorthStar Digital Literacy
  • Complete an application
  • Connect with instructor & classmates

If you come to an online orientation, you will still need to come in person for an English assessment.

Outcomes

Students who complete this program will:

  • Participate in professional mock interviews
  • Conduct an informational interview in the industry they want to pursue
  • Receive support from a Career Advancement Specialist to help advance in thier career
