This no-cost program will prepare you for testing for your Class B Commercial Drivers’ permit. Once you attain your permit, Takoda staff will help you find a job in the field or complete Class B behind-the-wheel training.
This six-week hybrid (online and in-person) training meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and occasional Saturdays.
The first step would be to attend one of our information sessions, which are held most Wednesdays. During these sessions, we go over the enrollment process and eligibility requirements. The session can be attended online. For more information, please visit: https://www.aioic.org/information-sessions/
You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Minnesota driver’s license in order to obtain a Minnesota Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). The CLP will allow you to practice driving a commercial vehicle with another driver with the same class license or higher.
Other licensing eligibility includes passing a background check, with no felonies within three years, and passing a Department of Transportation physical and drug screening.
Once you successfully complete the program, you will have your Class B Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). Fourteen days after earning your permit, you will be eligible to take CDL road tests.
