Job postings typically slow down a bit around the holidays in late November through the end of the year. For job seekers, that may mean fewer job options are available that are a good fit for them.
For employers, this time of year may represent a good opportunity to post job openings with less competition for job seeker eyeballs compared to other times of the year.
Employers with job openings in Minnesota are invited to post their job openings via the new Post-a-Job platform, which will replace MinnesotaWorks.net in 2026 when that platform retires.
Job posting numbers trending downward
Job posting numbers indicate there are fewer jobs available now versus Novembers of the past few years, or at least fewer jobs posted on Minnesota's labor exchange. The numbers below are from a point in time during the last week of November each year.
- November 2025 – 52,222*
- November 2024 – 63,314
- November 2023 – 81,963
- November 2022 – 111,688 job postings
*Note that the November 2025 number includes postings on MinnesotaWorks.net, Minnesota jobs scraped from employer websites and posted on the National Labor Exchange and jobs posted via the new Post-a-Job platform.
The downward trend in job postings evidenced in the number of Minnesota labor exchange postings since 2022 aligns with the general trend revealed in the latest Job Openings & Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) data and results from the Job Vacancy Survey.
