Aviation Ordnancemen (AO) receive, inspect, package, store, handle, and process for shipment: airborne weapons, air launched torpedoes, aerial mines, and ammunition; test, assemble, fuze, load, download, arm, and de-arm all airborne weapons, torpedoes, and mines for aircraft carriage; receive, inspect, store, load, and download sonobuoys; perform authorized maintenance on airborne weapons, aircraft guns, and targets; receive, inspect, inventory, configure, test, and maintain Armament Weapons Support Equipment (AWSE), Ordnance Handling Equipment (OHE), and materials handling equipment; test and maintain aircraft armament release and control systems; inspect and maintain conventional ordnance magazines and Ready Service Lockers (RSL); maintain and operate magazine sprinkler systems; maintain and operate aircraft carrier weapons elevators; perform preventative maintenance and inventory small arms weapons; manage accounting systems, rework of airborne weapons/systems/equipment, and conventional weapons qualification/certification programs, afloat and ashore; prepare, review, maintain, and inspect compliance with directives and reports applicable to Notice of Ammunition Reclassification (NAR), High Energy Radiation Hazards to Ordnance (HERO), Weapons Certification Program, and Explosive Handling Certification Program.

Boatswain's Mates (BM) train, direct, and supervise personnel in ship's maintenance duties in all activities relating to marlinespikes, decks, boat seamanship, painting, upkeep of ship's external structure, rigging, deck equipment, and life boats; take charge of working parties; perform seamanship tasks; act as petty officer-in-charge of picket boats, self-propelled barges, tugs, and other yard and district crafts; and operate and maintain equipment used in loading and unloading cargo, ammunition, fuel, and general stores.

EM's are responsible for the operation of a ship's electrical power generation systems, lighting systems, electrical equipment and electrical appliances. The duties include installation, operation, adjustment, routine maintenance, inspection, test and repair of electrical equipment. EM's also perform maintenance and repair of related electronic equipment.

Enginemen (EN) operate, maintain, and repair (organizational and intermediate level) internalcombustion engines, main propulsion machinery, refrigeration, air conditioning, gas turbine engines, and assigned auxiliary equipment on Navy ships; stand safety watches on auxiliary boilers and other assigned equipment.
