Nate came to CareerForce in Bloomington for help with his job search in December 2025, after being laid off from an employer where he had worked for 20 years.

Because he was in a union, CareerForce staff connected him with the Teamsters Service Bureau for assistance finding new employment.

Nate’s counselor at the Teamsters Service Bureau, Christine, helped him find employment very quickly at Kemps in Minneapolis, at a higher wage than the job he was laid off from. He started at Kemps on March 25 and works four ten hour days a week, with the possibility of overtime.

Nate has important advice for others looking for work now: “I would say use every avenue. I used the CareerForce location and the Dislocated Worker contact at Teamsters. It’s always good to have more than one source in looking for employment, networking is a big part of it. Look for more resources, I got help from people at church looking for work too. Don’t limit yourself.”

Nate stressed that while he is a union member, you don’t have to be a union member to get help from the Teamsters. Another plus: if a person is enrolled in the Dislocated Worker program, Teamsters may be able to connect that person with on-the-job training, so a person can get paid for up to 90 days while they are learning on the job. That is a huge help when a person has to pay bills.

Nate was very impressed with the help he received from Christine at the Teamsters Service Bureau – in fact he received five more job offers at employers he applied to in addition to the offer he got from Kemps.

Congratulations, Nate!
