 Go MN! offers:

  • Freedom to explore: Take small, manageable steps toward the right job. There’s no rush or pressure. It may take weeks or months to explore all the possibilities—you decide what you’re comfortable with.
  • Low-pressure opportunities: Explore the workplace through observations, tours, interviews, job shadowing, internships and short-term experiences. These activities are designed to be doable and informative, so you can learn, gain confidence and discover what works best for you. 
  • Work-readiness: Access resources and develop the skills that lead to workplace success. From help with transportation to professional appearance, your experience will be tailored to your needs, whatever they may be at the time. 
  • Hands-on experience and training: Our tailored training and workplace exploration helps you feel prepared and confident as you learn technical tasks, teamwork and workplace etiquette. Our partnerships with local businesses ensure these experiences are meaningful, supportive, and aligned with your own career goals.

Work-Based Learning Opportunities Tailored for You

The program offers a variety of work-based learning experiences designed to help participants learn about different jobs and gain valuable insights. From low-pressure activities like tours, job shadowing, and informational interviews, to more involved activities such as internships and paid, short-term work experiences, opportunities are tailored towards each participant’s individual needs and goals. 

Teamwork and Collaboration

The Go MN! team works closely with other professionals, including case managers, employment specialists and school staff, to ensure comprehensive support and access to resources. Together, we can identify meaningful opportunities, knock down barriers and create a seamless experience for each participant. 

The Role of Parents and Guardians 

Parents and guardians play a crucial role in supporting the success of participants in the Go MN! program. We encourage open communication and active involvement to support participants on their journey. 

The Progressive Employment Model 

At the core of the Go MN! program is the Progressive Employment model. Everyone is ready for something and small successes can lead to greater achievements.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Go MN!, you must be a person with a disability who meets at least one of the following criteria:

  • You’re currently working at subminimum wage or have previously worked at subminimum wage.
  • You’re working at minimum wage or higher in a nonintegrated setting or have previously worked at minimum wage or higher in a nonintegrated setting.
  • You’re in high school or a transition program and are contemplating working in subminimum wage employment.
