Fast-track your way into the financial industry in 10 weeks
- Launch your career with Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) certification, a gateway credential to mid/high level positions.
- Train for a financial services position with salaries starting up to $24-$28/hour; $35/hour with prior work experience.
- Learn introductory fundamentals such as types of products and their risks, the structure of the securities industry markets, regulatory agencies and their functions, and prohibited practices.
- Interactive online training with your instructor, career navigator, and peers.
- Professional career coaching and assistance with resumes, applications, interviewing, job search, retention, and advancement.
- Learn about career options with our employer partners, Wells Fargo, Ameriprise, US Bank, Thrivent, Northwestern Mutual, Bank of America, and Huntington.
- Training available at NO COST to eligible students.
Online or Virtual Information
*Online training Mon-Thurs 9am-11am. Additional 20-22 hours/week of flexible, online training that fits your schedule.
How to Participate
Attend a virtual information session on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 2–3 p.m. Register at https://www.gesmn.org/training
Outcomes
- Earn the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) certification, a gateway credential to mid/high level positions in 10 weeks.
- Train for positions including financial advising, licensed customer service professional, investment contact center, personal banker, and credit relations manager.
- Graduates can start and advance a financial services career in just a few months with our employer partners Wells Fargo, Ameriprise, U.S. Bank, Thrivent, Northwestern Mutual, Bank of America, or Huntington.
- We will help you find employment, assist you in maintaining your new position and even support you in career advancement opportunities.
- We will explore resources such as transportation and equipment that may be needed in order to work in your chosen field.

Training available at NO COST to eligible students
Eligibility Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Committed to working full-time in the financial industry
- Not enrolled in school
- HS Diploma or GED
- Score at a 9th grade level or higher in reading and math
- No felonies; misdemeanors decided on a case-by-case basis
- Eligible to work in the United States
- MN resident; Twin Cities Metro or live within 30 miles of Hutchinson, Mankato, Rochester, St. Cloud or Wilmar
